The Oscars celebrated films and artistry on March 12. But many people were also celebrating the red carpet looks.

Many celebrities came and showed out for the 2023 Oscars red carpet. In past years on the red carpets, celebrities have not given red carpet realness regarding statement jewelry pieces, gowns, and poise. This year they brought it back in a 1950s glamorous Hollywood take.

Celebrities such as Cara Delevingne made her presence known as the queen of red carpet looks. She wore a substantial high-slit red taffeta gown by Elie Saab. The gown was paired with a stunning Bulgari necklace, bracelet, and ring. Delevingne didn’t stop there; she showed up to the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party wearing a whimsical off-the-shoulder Del Core gown. It hugged her body perfectly while also flowing graciously on the ground.

Flowy gowns didn’t stop there; Halle Bailey also attended the 2023 Oscars, where a short trailer of the Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey as Ariel debuted. The singer, now actress, wore a complimenting light blue Dolce and Gabbana gown on the red carpet. She looked like an actual princess.

Princess gowns were also a star on the red carpet at the Oscars. Sofia Carson wore an oversized white tulle gown by Giambattista Valli. In addition, Carson followed the trend of this year’s Oscars by wearing statement jewelry. She wore an eye-catching Chopard emerald green necklace piece and was styled by Nicolas Bru.

Even though Angela Bassett did not take home the Oscar for the best-supporting actress, she made a statement on the red carpet. So many people can’t pull off vibrant/ loud colors in front of the step and repeat, but Bassett did it effortlessly. Bassett wore a purple tulle gown by Moschino paired with a Bulgari Serpenti necklace.

Tems was also a fan favorite at the 2023 Oscars. She wore a perfectly made white tulle gown by Lever Couture. Even though the people behind her couldn’t see the stage, it was still beautiful and fit Tems aesthetic and overall vibe.

Halle Berry showed on the red carpet why she was and forever will be ‘that girl’ in the film industry; she wore a white slit halter top dress with gold roses along the collar bone and slit. The dress was by Tamara Ralph. Tamara Ralph also dressed the likes of Kate Hudson in a hot pink structured couture gown with a dramatic handmade petal cape.

Singer, business mogul, and now mommy of two, Rihanna always looks like she’s glowing, especially when pregnant. Rihanna wore a black AlaÏa dress that had a mesh overlay over her belly that was very flattering.

Fresh off-the-runway looks were also prevalent on the Oscars red carpet and Vanity Fair Oscars after-party. Celebrities such as Lady Gaga wore the new Versace Fall 2023 gown that launched on March 9. In addition, she wore a black gown that Gi Gi Hadid modeled.

Even though Hadid was not at the Oscars Red Carpet, she made her Oscars night debut at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party. Again, Hollywood glamor was the inspiration for her look. Hadid wore an off-the-shoulder fitted red custom Zac Posen dress. Another all-red look that was perfect at the Vanity Fair after party was Cardi B wearing Robert Wun. The rapper always gets it right regarding red-carpet looks, which has much to do with her stylist Kollin Carter.

Fresh runway looks were also showcased at the Vanity Fair after-party. Hunter Schafer wore a two-piece set by Ann Demeluemesteer. The top part of the look consisted of a single feather that covered just enough of the chest part and a long silk skirt.

Ciara dazzled her way to the after party in an embellished see-through moment, much like a Rihanna 2016 CFDA award show moment. The gown was designed by Dundas and styled with some black velvet gloves.

Rita Ora also attended the after-party wearing a Weiderhoeft fall ready-to-wear 2023 gown. The gown seemed to be a corset top joined together by chains to the bottom half, which was tulle.

Lastly, Megan thee Stallion returned to the red carpet after her trial. The rapper wore a remarkable black custom gown by Bach Mai. Law Roach styled Megan thee Stallion, and this was the best person for her to team up with for the Vanity Fair Oscar party. We at Dope Fashion Sense hope that she continues to be styled by Law Roach as she returns to the spotlight and music.
