It’s easy and crazy to believe that New York-based label AREA used half a million Swarovski crystals to complete their 14 look Couture collection. AREA debuted their first-ever haute couture collection, which was sponsored by, of course, Swarovski.

The label seen on influential people and celebrities such as Beyoncé and Michelle Obama stepped away from their signature ready-to-wear collections to curate a Couture collection that still matched their brand’s vibe. The Area label typically uses shiny and desirable crystals and silhouettes to complete collections in the past. The 14 look collection features those past aspects modeled by the famous Precious Lee and Yasmin Wijnaldum. With AREA using models that do not look the same in their couture look book, it usually lacks in fashion right now. Representing different body types is important because it’s more than just size zeros in the world.

“We wanted to push the boundaries of what’s possible with creating with crystal even further. We collaborated closely with Swarovski, and they provided us with the most beautiful stones to realize our couture dream” designers, Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszcyzk said in a press release. The new haute couture collection came together after working vigorously for six months in their New York studio and oversees with their embroidery partners.

“For our debut Haute Couture collection, we wanted to highlight our passion for custom tailoring,” the dynamic duo said. “We feel like every type of body is beautiful and unique in its own way.” The first look opened by model Precious Lee consisted of a two-piece black suit that had a sparkle to it. The trimmings of the black suit cuffs and bottoms had large silver sequins and metals. To cinch in the blazer was this bow with sparkled metal.

The Swarovski crystals kicked in when Lee and Wijnaldum wore matching skeleton-like and mermaid-like dresses that showed a lot of skin. The dress was covered in blue and silver stones and black and silver stones.

“With this couture collection, we want to showcase our ability and dedication to creating beauty by hand.” The designers said.
