Taraji P. Henson was not playing it safe when it came to this year’s 2020 American Music Awards.
Although other award shows are going entirely virtual, the AMA’s had live performances from different artists such as Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Megan thee Stallion, Bell Biv Devoe, Jennifer Lopez, and more. The only audience that was in attendance sat far away from the stage and socially distanced.
All the awards and music were terrific, especially Lil Baby’s performance (Emotionally Scarred is my favorite song at the moment). But what stood out was the different looks Taraji P. Henson served. Taraji was styled by her usual stylist Jason Bolden.
Bolden took this time and opportunity to show his skill and talent when styling the stars, such as Taraji P. Henson. Taraji was styled in so many glitz and glammed looks that sparkled well on the American Music Award stage.
Taraji P. Henson first hit the red carpet in this Giorgio Armani Fall 2020 Ready to Wear top and some Tom Ford Sandals. She accessorized this look with Tiffany & Co diamond earrings, pink sapphire, and green tourmaline diamond rings. She also wore this stunning beaded headpiece.
Taraji opened the show with a dance number to popular songs such as “W.A.P” by Megan thee Stallion and Cardi B, “A Brand New Day” by the movie The Wiz, “Let’s Go Crazy” by the late great Prince, “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” by Jay-Z, and the Tik Tok famed song “Savage” by Megan thee Stallion. She danced in a white dress and sparkling tights with some white sneakers. She then did a quick change into a tan bedazzled jumpsuit with a beige transparent coat.
The Empire actress then stepped out in an Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2020 Ready to wear sparkling blue ruched halter dress that she always looks stunning in. I love it when Taraji wears halter dresses. They always look as if they were made for her.
Her next look was a beautiful custom Georges Hobeika outfit inspired by the Georges Hobeika Spring 2021 Ready to wear collection. The dress had a high slit that showed off her gorg legs.
The What Men Want actress then showed love to black designers by wearing a Pyer Moss look inspired by the Spring 2020 collection. She paired this Pyer Moss look with some thigh-high black boots and a black fedora hat sitting to the side for that early 2000s R&B Soul look.
Taraji then embraced different geometric lines by wearing this Area Fall 2020 Ready to wear dress straight from the runway. Her hair was blown out and gave very much Diana Ross Vibes.
We always love a vintage look, and the one she wore in the middle of the 2020 American Music Awards show was to die for. Taraji wore a vintage Patrick Kelly corset dress and jacket for the 1980s. She paired this look with some cheetah print thigh-high boots.
My favorite look of the night from Taraji consisted of this glamorous Hollywood style gown by Carolina Herrera from their Resort 2021 collection. This gown looked terrific with the fishbowl bob hairstyle.
Taraji then wore this form-fitting yet straightforward lavender dress that had a circle cut out. Along with this form-fitting dress was a beautiful yellow bedazzled dress with a high slit.
Finally, Taraji P Henson wore this unique burgundy, white, and navy panel blazer with a high waisted skirt. This look was paired with some thigh-high burgundy boots and a fishbowl hairstyle.
