MY TOP 5 MET GALA LOOKS OVER THE YEARS

Due to COVID-19, my favorite day of May has been postpone. The Met Gala is the ultimate and most prestigious event in fashion. The Met Ball or Met Gala is a fundraising gala that is hosted every year in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. The significant event marks the opening of the Met’s annual fashion exhibit.

Every year for the Met Gala, there is a theme that all attendees are expected to follow. This year’s theme was going to be “About Time: Fashion and Durtion”. The theme was inspired by Virigina Woolf, who was an English writer and an important modernist in the early 20th century. It was also inspired by French Philosopher Henri Bergson and his theories.

I was more than excited to see the different and creative looks that the celebrities were going to be walking in. I was so thrilled due to the fact that how poppin’ the look were last year for the Met Gala.

So, since there will not be a Met Gala this year, I decided to showcase my top 5 favorite looks from the Met Gala over the years.

Met Gala 2019 – Cardi B – Theme: Camp: Notes on Fashion

Literally my jaw dropped when I saw Cardi B walk on to the steps of the Met Museum. The beautiful and huge quilted feathered gown by Thom Browne and the matching headset was something magical. The bright red tone shined bright. Her dress was so big and heavy that she needed a team of people to help her up the stairs and even walk into the Met.

Met Gala 2015 – Rhianna – Theme: China: Through the Looking Glass

Rihanna, my sweet Rihanna. My love for fashion is out of this world. When I first saw this dress, I shed a few tears because of Rihanna’s poise and how immaculate this gown was. I recently watched this documentary on the Met Gala and they had a scene of Rihanna walking on to the steps of the Met with this beautiful Chinese Couture masterpiece by Guo Pei. This bright and vivid yellow gown was handmade by one Chinese woman and it took 2 years to finish.

Met Gala 2019 – Zendaya – Theme: Camp: Notes on Fashion

Zendaya showed up to the Met Gala last year looking like a true black ice princess. She wore a Cinderella light up Tommy Hilfiger dress. Along with her was her stylist, Law Roach, dressed up as a fairy godmother with a wand that made her gown glow. It was just like the scene off of Cinderella.
