Met Gala 2019 Theme: “Camp: Notes On Fashion”

The biggest event in the fashion industry is coming up and no it’s not a regular degular fashion event. It’s the Mecca of them all, the Met Gala. The Met Gala is an annual event thrown by Anna Wintour, Editor in chief of Vogue Magazine, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Anybody that’s big in the fashion industry and also the entertainment industry have the honors of being invited to this magnificent and stylish event. This years chairs for the event is Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Serena Williams, and Alessandro Michele, which is Gucci’s creative director.

Every year at the gala there is a Theme that is going on and everyone who attends dresses for the theme. Last year the theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” This year the Theme will be “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. I know when many think of the word camp, they think of a group of people sitting in the woods around a fire and listening out for Big Foot, but no this is not what they mean by Camp. They are talking about “ Camp Fashion”. What is Camp Fashion you might ask? Well it is an Extravagant, Exaggerated, and Gaudy look. Something like Viktor & Rolf meme gowns. Camp Fashion is basically your opinion of fashion and what you feel is fashion to you.

With this open theme for the Met I’m really excited to see how the attendees of the gala style them selves. I know there is going to be a lot of bold and significant statements. Also people wearing unique and meaning up pieces that speak on a whole other level. I absolutely can’t wait till May 6th !
